Unusable Chicken Meat Buried; Offending Company Exhumes It

Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC), in a statement released today, says 13,500 kilograms of chicken meat was confiscated and later “buried” due to unspecified food safety concerns.

The meat, belonging to the Armen-Hamik Brothers LLC based in the Armavir town of Abovyan, was transferred to the village of Kotayk, fifteen kilometers north of Yerevan, and buried it in the ground.

The SRC goes on to say that company representatives later went to the site, dug up the chicken meat, and shipped it to its headquarters.

The SRC doesn’t say what the company intended to do with the “unusable” meat.

Armen-Hamik Brothers imports and manufactures food items for sale in the country.

Armenia’s Investigative Committee is looking into the bizare story.
