Former Armenian Defense Minster Released on Bail
Former Armenian Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan was released from detention today on fifteen million AMD ($3,900) bail.
Tonoyan was arrested in September 2021 in a criminal probe regarding the supply of defective armaments to the country’s military.
He and an arms dealer face charges of defrauding the government of 2.3 billion drams (US$5.9m).
Tonoyan was appointed defense minister in May 2018 and dismissed on November 20, 2020 following the Artsakh war.
As minister he boasted that Armenia would capture more Azerbaijani territory in any new war.
