
Pashinyan, FAO Director-General Stress Cooperation Importance
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General Qu Dongyu met in Yerevan today to discuss the latter’s three-day visit to Armenia.
Pashinyan, according to his office, stressed the importance of Armenia’s cooperation with the FAO, particularly to ensure food security.
Dongyu visited a forestry nursery program near the town of Hrazdan and addressed first-year students at the country’s National Agrarian University.
During his talk, the FAO head emphasized the importance of science, innovation and digital technologies in transforming agrifood systems and addressing the complexities of modern agriculture.
Dongyu also inspected a FAO-supported school-feeding program in Ararat Province that includes a greenhouse as well as fruit drying activities.
He also visited a vineyard supported by the Vineyard Registration System.
