The Yerevan Municipality recently purchased twenty-one electric vehicles for a total cost of US$ 644,000.

Twenty were 2024 Chinese-made BYD Song Plus crossovers and one 2023 Mercedes EQE500 SUV.

Studying the purchase contracts, the municipality could have bought three more BYDs instead of the Mercedes. The latter cost $85,200.

All were purchased from Eco Motors Group LLC, founded in 2021 and owned by Armen Abrahamyan.

He and Artavazd Tarkhanyan, an advisor to the Urban Development Committee chairman, own Eco Build Group LLC that provides construction design, planning and management services.
