Pashinyan, French Foreign Minister Meet in Yerevan
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan told French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Stéphane Séjourné at a meeting today in Yerevan that Armenia seeks greater security and economic cooperation with France.
Pashinyan said this is part of his administration’s strategy to strengthen Armenia’s independence and statehood. Séjourné responded that France supports this initiative and stands with Armenia.
The parties discussed Armenia-Azerbaijan peace talks and regional developments.
Earlier, during a press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Séjourné said his visit to Yerevan’s Genocide Memorial was “intensely emotional” for him.
"The Armenian Genocide is something that played a big role in the history of our countries," Séjourné said, adding that the memory of such historical crimes must be maintained to counter those seeking to revise history.
Séjourné arrived in Armenia yesterday on a two-day visit.
