France to Invest €600,000 to Improve Teaching of French in Armenia

France will allocate €600,000 to improve the quality of teaching French in Armenia and support the needs of students.

According to a deal signed today in Yerevan by French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies and Armenian Minister of Education Zhann Andreasyan, new French language teaching programs will be introduced in schools, and new textbooks and educational materials.

“I had the opportunity to meet teachers teaching French in the distant cities and villages of Armenia, who have a special love for French culture, literature and language and know very well how to convey this love. The aim of the project is also to provide pedagogical training for French teachers, equipping them with a new methodology,” Decottignies said at the document signing.

A 225-hour pilot training program will be implemented for thirty teachers of French as a foreign language, who will later become trainers of their fellow teachers.
