Armenian Foreign Minister on Mid-East War: 'Any Escalation Must Be Avioded'
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, when asked to comment during a Q&A at the Warsaw Security Forum about the war unfolding in the Middle East, said “Armenia is trying to do everything possible to ensure peace in our region, but we see that our countries in the wider neighborhood are launching missile strikes at each other.”
“We cannot encourage or welcome any escalation and only hope that this conflict is resolved as quickly as possible,” Mirzoyan said.
When asked if Armenia has successfully integrated displaced Artsakh Armenians, Mirzoyan responded, “We have done our best to provide them with their basic needs: shelter, food and other basic needs. Of course, we have turned to the help of the international community and highly appreciate the support provided.”
He added that if these Armenians cannot return to Artsakh, the Pashinyan administration will spare no effort to create jobs and build homes for them so that they stay in Armenia.
(The Warsaw Security Forum, launched in 2014, gathers representatives of governments, international organizations, industry, think tanks and civil society to discuss transatlantic cooperation, focusing on elaborating shared responses to common challenges, with an emphasis on the security of Central and Eastern Europe.)
