Archbishop Galstanyan Seeks to Reignite Movement to Oust Pashinyan
Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, who spearheaded a round of street protests last spring to force the resignation of Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, went on Armenian Public TV yesterday and called on people to attend a rally in Yerevan this Sunday.
Galstanyan accuses the Pashinyan administration of making unilateral concessions to Azerbaijan and opposes the government’s handover of border regions to Azerbaijan.
While thousands joined the spring protests, the movement ultimately fizzled without forcing Pashinyan to resign.
Galstanyan, on Sunday, seeks to reignite the movement to oust Pashinyan.
On May 9, Galstanyan went so far as issuing the following ultimatum to Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan – "You have one hour to resign!"
Galstanyan, yesterday, accused current government officials of betraying the nation for the sake of personal profit and political ambition and pursuing a fake peace agenda with Azerbaijan that has placed Armenia in the role of a “beggar”.
The clergyman, who serves as Primate of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, described the Pashinyan government as a “den of evil” that needs to be removed post haste.
