Pashinyan Stresses Education at Social Justice Conference in Yerevan
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, during a speech at the “Road to Social Justice-Decent Work” conference in Yerevan this week, said his government is focused on making quality education accessible to all in Armenia.
He said that there can be no social justice without a base of quality education starting in kindergarten.
Of note is that according to an Armenian government press release the chairman of the Arab Gulf Regional Development Fund and the Arab Council for Childhood and Development (ACCD), Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarth attended the conference
Ther press release fails to specify the other “overseas guests” that travelled to Yerevan for the conference.
“The concept of social justice implies that a person should establish his well-being through his own work. And the level of his well-being should be directly related to the content, quality, productivity and fairness of his work," Pashinyan said addressing the conference.
Satyarth is an Indian social reformer who campaigned against child labor in India and advocated the universal right to education.
In 2014, he was the co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, along with Malala Yousafzai, "for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education."
The ACCD, based in Cairo, is an Arab regional non-governmental organization.
