Turkish FM: Normalization of Yerevan-Ankara Relations Will Follow Yerevan-Baku Peace Deal

Relations between Ankara and Yerevan will be normalized after the signing of the peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

"We see an agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia as very important for stability and peace in the region. We are pleased to see the parties approaching an agreement. The recent agreement on the border is a good example of this progress. Following the signing of an agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Turkey-Armenia relations will also normalize,” Fidan said according to the Akşam news outlet.

Fidan referred to the issue earlier this week in remarks assessing Turkey’s viewpoints on several foreign policy matters.

The presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, at the end of October,  had formal and informal contacts in Kazan on the sidelines the BRICS summit and instructed their foreign ministers to finalize a peace agreement.
