Armenia Joins Freedom Online Coalition
Armenia has joined the Freedom Online Coalition (FOC), thus becoming the forty-second country to join the organization, launched in 2011, that seeks to advance internet freedom.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced the news on December 3 during his visit to The Hague.
Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp welcomed Armenia’s joining the FOC, noting, “We are also delighted that Armenia joined the Freedom Online Coalition» during our chairship. This reflects Armenia's strong commitment to promoting and protecting human rights online. I commend Armenia for taking this step.”
The FOC was launched in 2011 by Dutch Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal.
