
Armenia Approves European Commission €12.9 Million Nuclear Safety Grant
The Armenian government today approved a financing agreement, signed with the European Commission, for the strengthening of nuclear safety, radiation protection, and radioactive waste management infrastructure in Armenia.
The Commission will provide a €12.9 million technical assistance grant to Armenia for this purpose.
Armenia’s Metzamor nuclear power plant provides one-third of Armenia's total energy needs. Its operational lifespan has been extended until 2036, after which it is scheduled for decommissioning.
