Lawyer Urges Pashinyan to Do More to Secure Ruben Vardanyan’s Release
Jared Genser, international counsel to former Artsakh State Minister Ruben Vardanyan, has called on Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan to publicly ramp up efforts to secure his client’s release.
Genser, in a Twitter post, welcomed a recent statement issue by Armenia’s Foreign Ministry accusing Azerbaijan of unlawfully detaining and persecuting Vardanyan and other Armenian POWs and conducting “show trials” against them.
Genser writes that Pashinyan “could send a private envoy to Baku to negotiate the release of Armenian political prisoners.
He also writes that Pashinyan could ask U.S. President Trump and Secretary of State Mark Rubio for their help in the matter.
I am very grateful that #Armenia FM @AraratMirzoyan & @MFAofArmenia spoke out for the freedom of my client @RubenVardanyan_ & the other #Armenian #Christian #political #prisoners & #POWs from #Azerbaijan. This was big! There is also so much more PM @NikolPashinyan can do from… pic.twitter.com/KVTPaurzUa
