
Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity Meets with Armenian Officials
Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Astrid Schomaker, during meetings in Yerevan last week with PM Nikol Pashinyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan, and Environment Minister Hakob Simidyan, discussed preparations to hold the COP 17 biodiversity conference in Armenia next year.
Shomaker also met with Chair of Armenia’s COP17 Organizing Committee Hambardzum Matevosyan, and representatives of ambassadors, embassies and international organizations accredited to the Republic of Armenia.
Signed by 150 government leaders at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, the Convention on Biological Diversity is dedicated to promoting sustainable development.
