Armenia to Spend €4.3 Million for New Embassy in Brussels
Armenia is setting its sights on a new building, carrying a price tag of €4.3 million, to house its embassy in the Belgian capital Brussels.
The current embassy building, acquired in 2005, lacks a parking lot and requires costly maintenance.
Armenia’s Foreign Ministry argues the current building is under Belgian state control, limiting changes inside and outside the building.
The new building, built in 1866-1870, is larger. It has four floors, offices for twenty employees, and a twenty-one-car parking lot.
The new building is in Brussels’ prestigious European district, where several other embassies and diplomatic missions are located.
The Armenian government argues the move has political and symbolic advantages.
