Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan today, at the Presidential Palace in Yerevan, welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Armenia on an official visit.

The two officials discussed a wide range of issues related to the expansion and deepening of multi-sectoral cooperation between their two countries, stressing the importance of more effective cooperation both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union, paying special attention to the deepening of relations in the economic, educational, cultural and scientific spheres.

At the end of the meeting, Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan and German Ambassador to Armenia Claudia Busch.  

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan and visiting Leipzig Mayor Burkhard Jung signed an agreement to celebrate a Cultural Year between the two cities.
