Armenian Defense Minister to Greece for Talks

Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan travelled to Greece today for what his office describes as a “working visit”.

While the Armenian Defense Ministry doesn’t provide specifics on the visit, Armenia and Greece have recently ramped up defense cooperation talks.

In December 2023, Armenia and Greece signed a military-technical cooperation agreement that includes the exchange of experience, knowledge and the development of joint projects.

In Mach 2024, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan welcomed Greek Defense Minister Nikolaos Dendias to Armenia and noted the deepening of defense cooperation between the two countries.

“We see ourselves as a country that will help Armenia as much as we can, given our historical ties, also because we are very close countries, and we really want to do that,” Dendias told Pashinyan at the time.

Representatives from the defense ministries of Armenia, Greece and Cyprus met in Athens in December 2024 and signed an overall defense cooperation plan for 2025 that includes key areas like troop training, military education, joint exercises, and advisory support.
