Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Agreement Text to be Released on August 11
The full text of the document signed by Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington D.C. on August 8, brokered by the U.S, that has been heralded as a “peace deal” between the two South Caucasus nations, will be made public on August 11.
“Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov signed the Agreement “On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States,” Armenia’s foreign ministry writes today.
The agreement will reopen key transportation routes in the region and will establish a major transit corridor to be named the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), the White House said following the signing.
The route will connect Azerbaijan and its Nakhichevan exclave via Armenia’s southern Syunik Province.
"We are today establishing peace in the Caucasus," Aliyev remarked. "We lost a lot of years being preoccupied with wars and occupation and bloodshed."
Pashinyan called the signing a "significant milestone" in relations between the two countries.
Trump announced he signed bilateral agreements with both countries to expand energy and technology trade.
