Netanyahu Says He Recognizes Armenian, Assyrian, Greek Genocides
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, during an interview with American podcaster Patrick Bet-David on August 26, said he recognizes the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek genocides committed by the Ottoman Empire.
When asked why Israel, given the historical experience of the Jewish people, hasn’t officially recognized the genocides perpetrated against the Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks, countered that the Israeli parliament has issued such a resolution. No such legislation, however, has been passed into law in Israel.
Pressed by Bet-David on why no Israeli prime minister has, Netanyahu responded, “I just did. Here you go.”
(Bet-David, a controversial conservative media personality, is said to have been born in Tehran, purportedly into a Christian family of Assyrian and Armenian descent.)
