Pashinyan Confident Armenians Will Support Peace Process in 2026 Parliamentary Election

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, during a Q&A session at the 8th Paris Peace Forum today, said the people will vote in favor of his administration’s peace process with Azerbaijan when they go to the ballot box in the 2026 parliamentary election.

“I am confident that the people of the Republic of Armenia will support what we have achieved so far. I have no doubt that the citizens of Armenia will support the peace agenda and the peace process," Pashinyan said while fielding questions during the session entitled “At the Crossroads of Leadership”.

Pashinyan described the peace deal Armenia and Azerbaijan initialed in August as an “historic change” in bilateral relations between Yerevan and Baku and for the South Caucasus.

“I think this is the first time that we have a real opportunity to enter the stage of economic cooperation in the South Caucasus, and to have not only a peaceful, but also a prosperous region,” he said.

Pashinyan also stressed the importance of the TRIPP project for Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting it can truly be a game-changer for international and regional trade.

He said the opening of regional transportation links will create new opportunities for Armenia as a transit route between the Caspian and Mediterranean seas.
