Armenia, Iran Discuss Expanding Education Sector Cooperation
Armenian Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Artur Martirosyan and Bahram Taheri, Charge d'Affaires of Iran’s Embassy in Armenia, met today in Yerevan and discussed ongoing efforts to mutually recognize university and college diplomas of their two countries and issues related to Iranian students and graduates studying at Armenian universities.
Martirosyan, according to his office, presented the provisions of a new law in Armenia to expand opportunities for implementing educational programs in a foreign language and attracting foreign students.
Taheri noted that over the past three years considerable progress has been made to expand bilateral cooperation in the areas of culture, education, and science.
He said that cooperation in the field of culture can serve as an impetus for expanding cooperation in other areas as well.
The Iranian delegation expressed interest in the Armenian government's Academic City program, and said Tehran is ready to discuss cooperation opportunities within the framework of the program.
During the meeting, the parties also touched upon several current and future initiatives, including Armenia's participation in the Fajr International Film Festival, and the possibility of establishing an Iranian corner at the National Library of Armenia.
