U. S. Engineers in Armenia for TRIPP Site Survey
A team from the American engineering and consulting firm AECOM has visited Armenia to begin site investigation work for TRIPP.
The US Embassy in Armenia reports that AECOM representatives were assigned to the country by the U.S. State Department's Global Infrastructure and Investment Partnership Fund.
“This work will include a feasibility study and development of proposals for the construction of a railway and other infrastructure that will help promote long-term economic growth in Armenia, connectivity, and regional integration,” the embassy said in a statement.
The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project will connect the mainland of Azerbaijan with the exclave of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through Armenia along a 42-kilometer road.
TRIPP was developed under the terms of a U.S.-facilitated Armenian-Azerbaijani joint peace declaration signed in Washington, D.C. last August.
