Vance in Armenia Today for TRIPP Talks
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance will make an official visit to Armenia on February 9-10, making him the most senior U.S. official to ever visit the country.
Vance aims to promote the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), a proposed 43-kilometre corridor through southern Armenia that would connect Azerbaijan to its exclave Nakhchivan and Turkey.
According to Joshua Kucera, a senior analyst at Crisis Group, Vance's visit underscores U.S. support for the project.
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan will meet with Vance this evening, after which the two will make statements.
Vance will also travel to Azerbaijan for similar talks with the Aliyev administration
