The law in Armenia requires that if meat is to be sold, the animal must be butchered in a government registered slaughterhouse. However, the reality is different. In 2024, only 10% of livestock were slaughtered in slaughterhouses.

There are too few registered slaughterhouses and those that exist don't operate normally.
