Armenia's Parliament Debates €140 Million Water Supply Modernization Loan
Armenia’s National Assembly today discussed whether to ratify a €140 million twenty-year loan package designed to modernize and improve irrigation, water supply and sanitation in selected areas of Armenia
Under the agreement, the Internal Bank for Reconstruction and Development agrees to provide Armenia with €70.4 million. The program will be co-financed by the French Development Agency in the amount of €70 million.
Armenia and the IBRD signed the loan agreement in September 2025.
The project, if ratified, will consist of four components: water sector reform and climate-resilient irrigation and rural water supply, institutional strengthening of wastewater services, improvement of water supply and wastewater in rural settlements, modernization of irrigation infrastructure and systems management and project management.
