EU Commissioner Kos in Armenia to Strengthen Partnership
EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos is visiting Armenia today and tomorrow to strengthen cooperation between the European Union and Armenia, and to advance regional connectivity.
Kos, according to her office, will meet with Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan today to discuss preparations for the upcoming EU-Armenia Summit and discussions focused on enhancing transport, digital, energy, and trade links in accordance with the EU Connectivity Agenda (ECA).
The ECA aims to link the EU with Central Asia via Türkiye and the South Caucasus and to coordinate strategic investments to boost trade, and socio-economic development through resilient and efficient transport, energy, and digital connections.
The parties will also review the regional situation and discuss Armenia's democratic resilience.
Kos will meet with Armenian Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan to assess progress on the EU's €270 million Resilience and Growth Plan for Armenia.
On Friday in Gyumri, Kos will visit EU-funded enterprises that support social inclusion, local economic growth, and job creation. She will then tour Gyumri’s historic marketplace, currently undergoing EU-funded restoration, as well as an innovation hub dedicated to promoting youth skills in technology and design
She is also scheduled to meet with Young European Ambassadors, as well as local civil society representatives and journalists involved in EU-funded projects, to exchange perspectives and discuss their contributions to support Armenia's democratic resilience.
The Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative is a voluntary, non-political network connecting young people from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, the EU Member States, and the UK. It aims to raise awareness about EU cooperation with Eastern partners, highlight tangible results, foster policy dialogue, boost civic engagement, and promote collaboration for a better future.
