Pashinyan Attends Unveiling of Plaque Honoring Conductor Hovhannes Chekijian
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan attended the ceremonial opening of a plaque at the National Academic Choir of Armenia honoring conductor Hovhannes Chekijian.
Chekijian has served as the artistic director and principal of the choir, founded in 1937, since 1961.
By a decision of the Armenian government, the Armenian National Academic Choir has been officially named in honor of Maestro Hovhannes Chekijian in recognition of his decades-long contribution to Armenian musical culture.
Chekijian was born in Constantinople in 1928.
