Armenia to Spend $1.3 Million to Raise Computer Literacy for Unemployed

The Armenian government wants to spend AMD 493 million (US$1.328M) to teach some 10,000 unemployed citizens a variety of basic computer skills.

The government says the lack of digital literacy significantly limits the competitiveness of citizens in the labor market and hinders their involvement in both employment programs and the digitalized economy and the system of state services.

The program plans to organize digital literacy training courses, which will include the development of basic computer skills, the use of e-mail, CV writing skills, and the use of online job search platforms, as well as the basics of digital security.

The government has presented the project for public debate. If approved, the project will increase the number of beneficiaries to 30,000 in subsequent phases.
