MP Melikyan: A Businessman Big Enough for the Republican Party
Democracy and Labor Party President Spartak Melikyan has been a member of the Armenian parliament since 2007, having been elected on the ruling Republican Party’s proportional ballot.
It’s no accoident that Melikyan was included in the party’s ballot since there are mostly businessmen in its ranks.
Melikyan is a small fish when compared to the likes of Samvel Aleksanyan and others. Nevertheless Melikyan’s real estate holdings are extensive, including land in Hrazdan, a market in Armavir and an office building in Yerevan.
As of April 1, 2012, Melikyan declared revenues of 3.1 million AMD is salary, 1.6 million in rent and 30 million from real estate sales.
He owns a 49.7% share in the AvtoMekhanikakan company and 100% of the Zeytun Market and the Anania Shirakatsi College of International Relations.
