Armenia to Spend $1.8 Million to Hold Eurovision Young Musicians Competition
Armenia will spend AMD 665 million ($1.813 M) to hold the 22nd edition of Eurovision Young Musicians (EYM) in Yerevan on June 6.
EYM is a biennial classical music competition for musicians aged between 12 and 21. Eleven countries will send one musician to the competition.
The event is organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), alongside host broadcaster Public Television Company of Armenia.
This will mark first time that the Eurovision Young Musicians is hosted in Armenia, as well as the first Eurovision event held in the country since the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
Fifteen-year-old flutist Elen Virabyan will represent Armenia at the competition.
Portugal, Serbia, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Poland, Latvia, and Sweden will send their top musicians to Armenia.
Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, announcing the news, said the government is pursuing an active policy towards making Armenia a platform for various international tournaments, competitions, and events.
