Ursula von der Leyen to Visit Yerevan and Baku for Transport Corridor Talks
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit Armenia and Azerbaijan on July 1-2 and will raise the issue of turning these countries into a transport corridor from Central Asia to Europe.
EC spokesperson Paula Pino, at a briefing in Brussels, said Ursula von der Leyen and the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan will discuss the peace process between the two countries and EU investments in their transport infrastructure so that Armenia and Azerbaijan can become a “corridor from Central Asia to Europe.”
This will be Ursula von der Leyen's second visit to Armenia in the past two months. In May, she participated in the European Political Community Summit in Yerevan, and then in the first EU-Armenia Summit.
