Pashinyan in Iran to Attend Funeral of Late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan arrived in Tehran today to attend the state funeral of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who was killed with family members at the start of the U.S.-Israel war on Iran.
Pashinyan was welcomed by Iranian Vice President Seyyed Hamid Pourmohammadi at Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport.
Pashinyan then met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian who thanked the Armenian leader for travelling to Iran for the funeral.
Pezeshkian said Iran highly appreciates the position adopted by the government of Armenia towards Iran in the current difficult situation and the humanitarian support it has provided.
The two officials, according to Pashinyan’s office, also exchanged views on regional matters, emphasizing the importance of ongoing steps aimed at strengthening peace, stability and regional cooperation.
Pezeshkian also congratulated Pashinyan on his June 7 parliamentary election victory and expressed confidence that bilateral relations will continue to consistently develop and strengthen.
