European Union Donates Remotely Controlled Demining Vehicle to Armenia
The European Union has donated a forty-ton remotely controlled demining vehicle to Armenia, the Armenian government reports.
This is the third demining vehicle that the EU has donated to Armenia to strengthe the country’s capacity to clear conflict-affected areas of mines and explosive remnants of war.
The vehicles will also be used in the process of demarcating the state border of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
“This modern equipment will enable demining operations to be conducted more safely, efficiently, and quickly, reducing the risks for professionals. These demining vehicles will also be of immense importance for the demarcation of the state border of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan,” noted Armenian Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan.
““With this vehicle, Armenia will be able to clear border areas more quickly, allowing farmers to return to their lands, families to live without fear, and communities long affected by the conflict to enjoy a normal daily life again,” said Peter M. Wagner, Director and Head of the European Commission's Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI)
