Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan signed a decree today appointing Nikol Pashinyan as Armenia’s next prime minister.

The parliament’s ruling Civil Contract faction elected Pashinyan as its candidate for the post.

“I am confident that your tenure will be built on the values and principles that underlie public service: loyalty to the Republic of Armenia, the Constitution, service to the public and state interests, commitment to the continuous strengthening of statehood, and responsibility for the present and future of our country,” Khachaturyan told Pashinyan at ceremony.

Pashinyan said that when he assumed the post of prime minister in 2018, he never imagined that his administration would be able to overcome the challenges that faced Armenia.

“But we are where we are, and I think that the key role and significance in all this definitely belongs to the people of Armenia who, after all, have demonstrated manifestations of state consciousness and state-centeredness throughout this period, ” Pashinyan said.
