Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met today on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek and discussed steps to expand their countries’ bilateral agenda.

Pashinyan’s office reports that the sides emphasized the friendly relations between Armenia and Vietnam and stressed the importance of consistently developing political, economic and cultural ties.

Pashinyan recalled his official visit to Vietnam in 2019 and stressed the need to organize high-level contacts and mutual visits.

Armenia and Vietnam established formal diplomatic relations on July 14, 1992, sharing a traditional friendship rooted in the Soviet era when Armenia supported Vietnam's independence and trained thousands of Vietnamese students and technical experts.

Parliamentary relations have strengthened with visits from Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan in late 2024 and Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Yerevan in April 2025.
