Pashinyan, Macron Meet in Paris; Discuss Economic Cooperation
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and French President Emmanuel Macron met at the Élysée Palace today to reinforce their bilateral strategic partnership. The high-level meeting occurred during Pashinyan's two-day working visit to Paris, where he is also attending the inaugural International Space Summit..
Macron thanked Pashinyan for accepting the invitation to participate in the first International Space Summit in Paris. The French president attached importance to the continuous development of bilateral relations in all directions, in line with the bilateral declaration of strategic cooperation.
Pashinyan expressed gratitude for the invitation and warm hospitality, emphasizing the deepening of cooperation with France in the space sector. He noted that Armenia is interested in more substantive partnership in this direction.
They identified economic cooperation as a priority in the strategic partnership and highlighted Armenia’s steps to diversify its economy.
A main point of discussion was the Bargushat tunnel project, a crucial component of Armenia's strategic North-South transport corridor. Both sides emphasized the necessity of launching main construction as soon as possible.
They also discussed regional developments and the need for consistent steps to strengthen peace.
Later, Macron hosted an official dinner for the heads of state and government attending the International Space Summit.
