Armenia, Iran Advance "Crossroads of Peace" and Strategic Infrastructure in Tehran Talks
TEHRAN — Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi today in Tehran to advance critical infrastructure projects and discuss shifting regional security dynamics.
Before launching into official bilateral talks, Mirzoyan extended his personal condolences to Araghchi following the recent passing of his sister.
Strategic Infrastructure and Economic Ties
The ministers, according to Mirzoyan’s office, engaged in a comprehensive review of the bilateral relationship, which both sides characterized as strictly strategic. The meeting underscored commitments solidified in the Armenian government’s new 2026–2031 program, which prioritizes deep political and economic integration with Iran.
Regional Connectivity and the "Crossroads of Peace"
A central focus of the discussions was regional interconnectivity and the unblocking of Soviet-era transport communications. Araghchi reaffirmed Iran's official support for Armenia’s "Crossroads of Peace" initiative—a regional transit project designed to link the Caspian Sea, the Black Sea, the Persian Gulf, and the Mediterranean.
Mirzoyan also presented the progress and technical work being executed under the TRIPP project, highlighting the fresh logistical and commercial opportunities it offers to participating regional powers. Furthermore, the two ministers emphasized the need to protect these diplomatic initiatives from misinformation, stressing that both countries must coordinate appropriate responses to unwarranted media speculation.
Geopolitical Stability
Turning to broader regional conflicts and instability in the Middle East and South Caucasus, Mirzoyan stated that Armenia is closely monitoring the fluid geopolitical situation. He underscored Yerevan's firm stance that all existing regional disputes must be resolved strictly through peaceful diplomatic negotiations.
The meeting concluded with discussions on several other undisclosed matters of mutual economic and political interest.
