YEREVAN — Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee has arrested four individuals—including two high-profile department chairs from Yerevan State University (YSU)—as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into institutional bribery.
The two primary suspects from the university have been identified as:
Vardan Ayvazyan, the Head of the Chair of Constitutional Law at the YSU Faculty of Law, is directly accused of receiving a bribe.
Edik Minasyan, the Head of the Chair of Armenian History at the YSU Faculty of History, who has been charged with aiding and abetting the receipt of the bribe. Minasyan is notably the brother of Artsvik Minasyan, a prominent Armenian opposition MP.
The enforcement agency confirmed the high-profile sweep in a statement provided to Hetq. While the specific financial figures and the identities of the other two arrested individuals have not been disclosed, law enforcement authorities noted that the detentions are tied to a singular coordinated criminal proceeding.
