Armenia and Canada Discuss Strengthening Ties, Expanding Parliamentary Diplomacy
YEREVAN — Deputy Speaker of Armenia’s National Assembly, Ruben Rubinyan, met with the newly appointed Canadian Ambassador to Armenia, Julie Crowley, on November 2 to discuss advancing bilateral cooperation.
According to the National Assembly’s press service, Rubinyan congratulated Ambassador Crowley on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic mission. The meeting focused on expanding relations between the two nations, with a particular emphasis on reinforcing inter-parliamentary ties and utilizing parliamentary diplomacy to move the bilateral agenda forward.
In May 2026, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney traveled to Yerevan to attend the 8th European Political Community Summit, marking the first official visit by a sitting Canadian prime minister to Armenia in nearly a decade.
Highlighting a broadening portfolio of cooperation, the Armenian government approved a decision in October 2026 to appoint a military attaché to Canada beginning in early 2027, aimed at growing defense and security dialogue.
