Catholicos Aram I to Host Global Church Leaders at 2026 Christian World Communions Summit in Lebanon
The Conference of Secretaries of the Christian World Communions (CSCWC) will convene at the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia in Antelias, Lebanon, from November 2 to 6, 2026. The international summit takes place following an official invitation from His Holiness Catholicos Aram I.
The CSCWC brings together 25 General Secretaries from a diverse geographic and theological spectrum, representing global church families across Switzerland, Denmark, England, the Vatican, the United States, Germany, India, Scotland, Italy, Palestine, Poland, Canada, Colombia, and Brazil. The Very Reverend Father Hrant Tahanian will represent the host institution.
Key Highlights
- Keynote Address: His Holiness Aram I will inaugurate the opening session with a lecture titled "Challenges Facing the Ecumenical Movement."
- Targeted Deliberations: The program consists of a structured series of presentations, theological discussions, and deliberations examining the complex vulnerabilities and modern pressures impacting international churches today.
The Role of the CSCWC
Established in 1957, the CSCWC acts as a highly valued, informal forum for fraternal dialogue among the global heads of major Christian traditions—including Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican, Protestant, Evangelical, and Pentecostal church families. Rather than passing binding resolutions or engineering joint strategic plans, the conference functions as a confidential platform built on mutual trust. It allows top leaders to compare notes on bilateral ecumenical dialogues, share organizational vulnerabilities, and foster unity to address contemporary global issues.
