Residents of the village of Getahovit has written to the Ministry of the Environment demanding that construction of a second mini hydro-electric plant be immediately halted and that the utility company fix any and all damage caused to the local environment.

The irate residents claim that no public hearings were conducted prior to the start of construction, as prescribed by law.

They also state that two plants are in violation of RA law prohibiting any activity in a specially protected nature zone that causes undue damage to the eco-system.
