Istanbul Armenian Church Snubs Government’s Compensation Offer
The Gedikpasa Armenian Protestant Church in Istanbul has snubbed a financial compensation amount offered by the Turkish Finance Ministry for a building seized by the government decades ago that now belongs to a third party.
The Turkish government has offered TL 147,000 ($82,253) for the four story church building that once housed an orphanage.
The church had the building appraised at TL 555,000 ($304,000) and has asked that the government review its offer.
