Deja-Vu Again: Happy "Old" New Year

Today, Armenia marks the “Old New Year” according to the Julian calendar. It heralds the traditional end of the winter holidays.  

 In the 20th and 21st centuries, the Old New Year falls on January 14 in the Gregorian calendar, 13 days after its New Year.

The tradition of the Old New Year has been informally kept in Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Wales and Switzerland.
