Azerbaijan Accuses Armenia of Making Maximalist Demands
After the Karabakh talks in Kazan, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov pointed to unrealistic demands made by Armenia as the prime reason why no compromise decision was reached.
"Discussions were held on issues of concern, which are obstacle to make a progress in resolving the conflict. Unfortunately, we have been unable to reach a compromise decision on a number of principal issues, because the Armenian side requires maximum concessions from Azerbaijan, distorting the essence of the negotiation process that began seven years ago", Mammadyarov said according to News.Az.
Answering a reporter’s question regarding charges made by the Armenian Foreign Ministry that Azerbaijan “had proposed new amendments” at Kazan, Mammadyarov said that it was another distortion of facts and documents.
“I would like to advise the Armenian Foreign Ministry not to be engaged in PR, but work intensively to change the existing negative status quo, to which the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries’ presidents call,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister noted.
