Double Bomb Attacks Hit Ankara

The Turkish press reports that a bomb exploded in front of the Turkish Justice Ministry in Ankara late last night and that the headquarters of the Justice and Development Party (AKP)  in the Turkish capital was also attacked.

Today’s Zaman says that two hand grenades were thrown into the annex of the Justice Ministry, injuring one person.

Hurriyet reports that the AKP office was targeted with a flame thrower. Other reports claim that a light anti-tank weapon was used.

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan, who has an office in the AKP building, had left for Denmark earlier in the day.

On February 1, a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the U.S. Embassy in Ankara.
