Georgia Faults Armenia on UN Vote
On July 5, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze labelled as “regrettable” that Armenia voted against a Georgian sponsored resolution at the UN General Assembly reiterating the right of return of all displaced persons to Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
“To our regret, Armenia doesn’t share our official position. We have made it clear that the resolution has an exclusively humanitarian nature and has no political purposes,” Kalandazde said at a news conference.
She said that Armenia had a position different from Tbilisi on the issue because of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Armenia was among 13 countries, including Russia, voting against the non-binding resolution that eventually passed.
