Disability Rights Advocacy Group Blasts Yerevan Municipality Over Public Buses

A disability rights advocacy group in Yerevan has taken the municipality to task for importing mini-buses that are not user-friendly for those with mobility problems.

The Social Integration and Supprt Center for Equality says that the municipality has imported some 30 mini-buses in the past three years that haven’t been outfitted with accessibility features.

In response to a letter sent by the organization, the municipality argued that the manufacturers of the Chinese mini-buses only outfit larger vehicles with accessibility features like elevator platforms.

The group says the municipality failed to state whether buses imported in the future will include such features.
