Human Rights Defender Sets Conditions for Participation in Working Group Looking Into Deaths of Armenian Military Personnel

The Office of the Human Rights Defender in Armenia has issued a statement specifying three necessary conditions for it to join a working group tasked with looking into the deaths of Armenian service personnel while on active duty.

The working group would be attached to the RA Military Prosecutor’s Office.

The conditions set forth by the Human Rights Defender are:

  1. The working group would have access to all criminal cases as of January 1, 2001 that resulted in a judicial decision.
  2. The working group would define its structure and agenda.
  3. Consequences of the findings and decisions of the working group must be defined, as well as the extent to which proposals made experts of civic organizations will be taken into account.

It looks like there will soon be some true justice applied to the many cases of military murders. The past awareness brought to these cases by activists is making this happen and must not stop until each case is prosecuted in a fair court!
