Armenian Genocide Museum Slated for Montevideo
Top Armenian and local dignitaries were on hand at a July 17 ceremony in the Uruguayan Parliament launching the opening of a museum in Montevideo dedicated to the 1915 Armenian Genocide.
In attendance were the Uruguayan Minister of Culture and Education and the Armenian Ambassador to Argentina and Uruguay.
The ceremony opened with a reading of remarks made by Uruguayan President José Mujica welcoming such an important initiative.
A government committee will soon be formed to coordinate the museum’s construction.
