Police Reject Transparency International's Complaint against Former Yerevan Chief Architect

Armenia’s Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center reports that the police have rejected its petition to press criminal charges against Narek Sargsyan, Yerevan’s former Chief Architect.

Transparency International had filed a complaint against Sargsyan with the Prosecutor General’s Office, claiming that while he served as Chief Architect he was directly involved in a process that led to the destruction of several structures in Yerevan with historical-cultural significance and that he often abused his authority.

Based on the complaint, the Police Department’s Department of Investigation for Yerevan launched a case and had begun to collect evidence to substantiate the claims of Transparency International.
